Will - Great points and a connection to employee development and retention that I hadn't recognized in my own examples.
The distinction between WHAT and HOW is a very important one...too often leaders either provide so little direction that employees flounder or micromanage to a point where an employee's ability to be creative and flexible is either not developed or squashed.
This most often leads to one of two things...they leave because they aren't being developed OR they ultimately fail in their current or future roles within the company and are forced to leave.
    Thanks for the insights.
